Better left to the experts

There are some things that are best left to professionals.  Car repairs.  Taxes.  Surgery.

I’m adding “waxing” to that list.

I’m a big believer in waxing (although some ex’s would be surprised to hear  that.  Sadly, I came in to this belief a little later in life). But as I’m trying to save some serious cash these days, I thought I’d buy some at-home waxing kit, rather than spend the usual $45 it usually costs me.

I tried it this morning.  Seemed easy enough.  Apply the wax in the direction of the hair growth.  Put the strip over the wax.  Pull quickly in the direction of the hair growth.

Apparently I wasn’t pulling quickly enough, since most of the hair remained on my bikini area, rather than coming off on the strip.  So I tried again.  And again.  Then I noticed the dots of blood.  Worse?  I noticed that I was really severely bruised!  I don’t know what I did wrong, but I washed the wax off with some soap and water and am now sitting with a bag of frozen peas on my bikini line, trying to get the bruising and swelling to go down.

Lesson learned.  My Russian waxer doesn’t know it yet (and she won’t for a few weeks, since I’ll need some time to heal psychically and physically from this experience) but she just gained a client for life.  No more at-home waxing!
