I try to practice the art of gratitude every day – although that’s probably not very evident in my (sometimes) complaining posts. But today is a day where I plan to spend not one minute thinking of what I don’t have or wish I had, and instead focus on all that I do have and am thankful for, because believe me, it’s a lot.
I’m thankful first and foremost for my good health (which is funny, because I actually have a cold right now that kept me home from work yesterday, but overall my health is fantastic) and strong body.
I’m thankful for amazing friends and family that stick by me, no matter what happens. I don’t know where I’d be without them, and I honestly mean that.
I’m thankful that even though we’re separated, my husband and I have an amicable relationship and I know that we’ll get through this and remain friendly for the rest of our lives.
I’m thankful for my job. Even though it drives me crazy, in this time of downsizing, layoffs, and companies going under I’m very fortunate to be in an industry, and at a company, that is thriving and surviving. It may not be what I want to do for the rest of my life, but I’m incredibly thankful for all that I’ve learned, continue to learn and am challenged with every day.
I’m thankful that I live in a country where I have rights and am able to elect the officials that represent me. We have problems here, there’s no doubt about that, but the people of America are resilient. We’ve gotten through worse and we’ll get through this. And hopefully come out stronger and smarter on the other side.
I’m thankful for my creative mind and the endless possibilities I have in front of me to do something I really want to do.
I’m thankful for my car, that even though it’s old (and sometimes embarrassing to drive with other people) it still keeps running and getting me where I need to go.
Overall, I’m thankful for life. I’m thankful to be here, to be learning, growing, doing and being.
I wish everyone a very happy Thanksgiving! Remember to give thanks for all the reasons you’re grateful today and everyday.
